if tonight's NBC primetime lineup was permanently on hiatus,
i would probably not get out of bed on thursday.

just kidding. sorta.

thursday used to be the start of my weekend.
glitter? check
strobe lights? check
thirsty? check
get dressed. up or down. doesn't matter.
get in the car. drive to the city or stay in town. doesn't matter.
maybe i'd study before leaving the house. maybe not.
realistically, i already decided that, on friday,
you definitely wouldn't see me in class.
i hear the new night out is wednesday.
by the time my kids get to college, it will likely be sunday.
still, that was then.

i consciously declare war on thursday boredom
it would otherwise be easy to fall into counter-productive shenanigans
so tonight, on my last thursday of being mundane,
i plan to spike my blood sugar levels
with commandeered Halloween candy.
next thursday, i plan to be more inspired.

Father ,
thank you for thursdays.
You created them, so they must be good.
help me use thursdays wisely,
as they are likely not going anywhere,
anytime soon.
in Jesus' name,
AMEN
