.moments.

My life is full of them as I race about each day madly attempting to accomplish everything on my perfectly written sticky note of the day.

.moments.

I experience 1,440 of them a day, if I am counting in specific minute portions.

.moments.

They happen quickly. And then they tend to disappear just as swiftly as they came.

.moments.

.are POWERFUL. Yet, we relegate them to have fleeting tendencies. Or, worse still, we never even notice them.

Moments are not just passing portions of time. We all know this. We all love to pretend to live by the token slogans that dominate Pinterest boards and wall art, journal covers and throw pillows. And yet, somehow, we become wrapped up in life and never even see the beauty — the glorious aching beauty — of the moments we experience.

So, today, is a reminder. For me. For you.

It's a reminder of the beauty of this life that our incredible God has given us. The beauty in the heights. And the beauty in the depths.

.moments.  like the one in which I looked into a tear-filled stranger's eyes and realized that the Lord had our paths cross for just one hour as a part of His perfect plan. She was no longer stranger, but sister. She was no longer hopeless, but hopeful.

.moments. like the one where my heart ached and my voice broke because I could tangibly feel a teenage girl's desperation for love as she sat with me and shared the story of the brokenness enveloping her.

.moments. like the one when the spinning world seemed to stop because of one person's laughter.

.moments. like the one where I was holding my precious three year old nephew as he alternated between cuddling with me and attempting to tickle me. My heart was full.

.moments. like the one in which I fell on my face before the Living God, confessing and hurting. He lifted me up.

Let's savour our moments. Let's soak them in. Let's make a habit of recording them, that we might never sink into just exisiting when we could be engaged in living the wild, beautiful, crazy, incredible adventure that comes from knowing the Lord God.
