Alicia is Pastor Manuel’s only daughter. Our first night in Lacama our teams were having a time of worship with the family. As we began to pray over the family, someone prayed that Alicia would see the value that she has. That she would know how much the Lord loves her and that she has purpose.
As time passed, we saw that Alicia stayed home during the days, while her brothers went to school. We found out that she had attended school, but had struggled with the coursework and wasn’t able to continue. Instead, she stays at home and helps her mom with cooking and keeping up the house. I was thinking about how hard it must be to have brothers that attend school and being the only one to be at home.
Alicia has such a sweet heart and spirit. I have felt a connection to her even though we have really only exchanged smiles. She has been in the kitchen most of the time that we have been here. She is behind the scenes. Preparing meals, cleaning dishes, and clearing off the table after everyone has gone.
Recently, Alicia has started hugging me. I feel such a love for this precious daughter. I want her to truly know her worth and value. I have wanted to give her a manicure for about a week or so, but the timing hadn’t been right until this afternoon. The Lord was prompting me that now would be a great time. I got out my manicure kit, nail brush, nail file, and nail polish. Alicia has never had her nails painted before. It was a blessing for me to paint her nails. My friend Jillian had given me a pedicure before I went on the World Race and I remember how special that made me feel. It was fun to be able to pass that on.
