We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip.  Here is what I’m expecting…

One word that comes to mind when I think about the October 2009 World Race is EXCITED!  11 countries in 11 months…WOW!  This is an amazing opportunity to serve in different regions, with different ministries, and with different cultures around the world.  I want to be used as a vessel by God to further His kingdom.  God is my rock.  He never changes.  He is always faithful.   He is in control.  He is loving.  He is righteous and just.  He is willing to reveal His will, law, and direction.  He is powerful.  He is merciful and forgiving.  He is great and sovereign.  He is good and generous.  He is holy.

On the World Race I expect…
  • to have my heart break
  • to be out of my comfort zone
  • to know a deeper love, joy, and peace
  • to be stretched- physically, emotionally, spiritually
  • to be flexible
  • to build a strong community with my brothers and sisters in Christ
  • to travel by plane, train, foot, and all the other “taxis” of the world

  • to see the Holy Spirit move in ways that I’ve never experienced
  • to be homesick
  • to have more and more of God’s Word planted in my heart
  • the unexpected
  • to experience feelings of loneliness
  • to take up my cross and follow Jesus
  • to have fun!
  • to grow closer to God
  • to be Jesus’ hands and feet
  • to have some amazing “inside jokes”
  • to be bold
  • to sleep in a tent  (not like the “camping” with a tent in the backyard I did when I was a kid)
  • to eat food that I’ve never eaten before…and love it!
  • to experience spiritual warfare
  • to be transformed
  • to be humbled

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”  Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.  2 Corinthians 12:9
