Today, I am thankful for space heaters. Even though it is nearly half way through November, the weather is, in good old Illinois fashion, resembling mid-December temperatures. This morning, I woke up to temperatures in the low 20’s, and snow was falling.
So tonight, I am thankful for many things.
1. Space heaters: It was the best $20 I ever spent. Unfortunately it makes it difficult to want to move.
2. Blankets: Last night I found myself under a pile of blankets. Once again, this made it difficult to move.
3. Hot water: After getting off work early, I found it quite comforting to come home and make a hot cup of tea.
This early cold snap has also given me a sense of excitement. Realization has hit me, in the fact that I will not have to endure Illinois’ worst part of winter this year! Instead, I will be in South America. This helps me transition into my next thought for the evening: flexibility.
We’ve already been warned, you shouldn’t come on the World Race with expectations. And many times we will discover how plans do not always pan out how we planned. We must be flexible in scheduling. So without further ado…
I am excited to share: a route change! Today my squad was told there has been a change in our itinerary. Originally, we were told we would spend the first 3 months of the Race in Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. However there has been a slight change of plans in countries and their order. Sadly, Chile has been removed. However, we now will begin our journey in Ecuador!
So the beginning of my trip is as follows:
January: Ecuador
February: Peru
March: Bolivia
I am overjoyed with this change. I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store.
