"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God,
and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great
earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken.  And
immediately all the doors were opened and everyones bonds were unfastened.
Acts 16:25-26

Two nights ago while we were sleeping we were robbed.
They came into our house, our comfort zone and took our stuff.
7 laptops, 2 ipods, and 2 cameras.
Anger, frustration, confusion, and prayer filled our house.
My team leader's purse was stolen,
her passport was in there.

We had trouble walking the streets outside without questioning everyone around us.
we felt betrayed,
confused,
annoyed, and
angry.

The stuff wasnt a big deal, it really wasnt, all of it can be replaced.
It's the fact that they took our safety away and replaced it with fear.
They came into our house while we were all in it, sleeping.
It could have been so much worse.

That night we decided fear wasnt going to win.
we decided that our praise was going to be louder.

My team leader Claire made the decision on having worship in the street.
One of the other teams down the road said they would join us.

At 8:00pm we would prove to Haiti, to satan, and to ourselves that we wernt backing down.
We stood outside our house in the street and sang praises to God,
we declared freedom, joy and peace over our house.
Fear was casted out in the name of Jesus.

An hour into praise thunder shook and it began to rain.
Washing away any anger, or confusion that was left.
God was cleansing us.

Praise can be a problem for your problem.

We continued to sing praise and worship together.
Our pastor and the other teams pastor had their hands raised in worship with us.
Even though the language is different, the spirit never is.

When you make an active decision to praise in the midst of your problem,
something changes.
Atmospheres shift.

we are here to love these people,
and damnit thats exactly what we are going to do.

There is power in the name of Jesus,
to break every chain,
every freaking chain.
