I’ve prayed for a lot of people on this trip, I’ve prayed
for healing but I’ve never seen anyone actually physically healed, yet. In
India I really started to grow in my faith and step out radically to pray big
prayers, BELIEVING God for the impossible and praying crazy things. So after
the church service one Saturday in Nepal, a woman came up to me wanting prayer,
she kept pointing to her left shoulder, she had very little range of motion in
her arm and she had no movement in her wrist. Through the translator I learned
that she had fallen on the mountain 5 months before as she was walking to
church. She didn’t have money to see the doctor so the bones had healed wrong
and now it would require surgery to correct the problem. I could feel how the
bones were fused together in her wrist. I prayed for her, nothing tangible
happened, she thanked me and I moved along to pray for some other women, but
God kept drawing my eyes back to this woman. So, I went and prayed for her a
second time….and then a third. When I still didn’t feel a peace in my spirit
that I was done praying, I called one of my teammates over and told her I felt
like we needed to pray more. So we prayed and prayed….nothing. Finally, we had
to leave and as we were walking down the stairs Rachel said to me, “It’s so
frustrating, I mean God could heal her, it’s in His power to do it, I just
don’t understand why he doesn’t just HEAL HER!” Well, life goes on and the week
goes by and after church the next Saturday we were praying for people and then
taking pictures with a lot of people since it would be our last service, and a
woman comes up to me with a big smile pointing to her shoulder and moving her
arm up and down and it took me about 2 minutes to realize it was the woman we
had prayed for last week!!! Last week she had no up and down movement in her
wrist and now she did! Last week she couldn’t raise her left arm and now she
could! It was incredible!!
God has used this experience to really show me, once again,
that His timing is not my timing, His is perfect. God absolutely could have
healed her instantly, in the moment Rach and I were praying. But He didn’t. In
scripture sometimes Jesus simply spoke and people were healed, other times just
a touch of his robe made people whole, and sometimes you had to wash seven
times in a river. There is no formula for healing, no magic words…just God and
His power!
