NEPAL | Kathmandu
I found that I actually dream a lot compared to some people. I think God speaks to me through many of the dreams that I have. Recently, my team and I have been dreaming in a different way more of in terms of the future. Each of us both individually and collectively have fallen in love with Nepal. There is something about the air here that is different, that gives off a different atmosphere than other countries I have been. It could be the extraordinary joy that the Rai family possess or maybe Reuban’s passion for sprending God’s kingdom to all parts of Nepal. But, whatever it is we seem to have all got an indeniable desire to continue to pour into this country in the future specifically through Reuban’s ministries.
One night we spent hours upon hours writing down a list of things that we could do here on the field and once we get home to support Reuban. It was so amazing to see how God pulled out our different resources, talents, and connections to come up with a pretty impressive plan of what we could do. You could tell that we were all excited to see how God used us in partnership with Nepal for His kingdom. After praying out our future dreams for this country, we went to bed.
The next morning we continued on with our trek and it wasn’t until a few days later that I realized that we had already stopped our dreams in their tracks. You see, God gives me dreams, like I said A LOT of them, but if I choose to not remember them or never look into them, then they remain in my dream world and they never come out. But God calls us to wake up from our dreams and act.
God hit me with this realization in the middle of our debrief in India. He gave me Romans 13, so as I began to read through the chapter I stumbled on verse 11 which is as follows:
“Besides this you know the time, that the house bas come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed”
Paul is talking about waking up from a spiritual sleep and start living out your faith, because Jesus is coming back. I think in the same way, God calls us to not just dream about helping others, but to actually act upon it. In Ephesians it also states “Awake O sleeper and arise from the dead.” God alone awakens us. He calls us to action at the proper time and in His perfect timing.
I have to remember that God doesn’t just want us to dream BIG; He then calls us to awaken from our sleep and get to work. So in light of this, I have listed below the ideas we have to support Nepal. I am not sure if this list will fall on deaf ears but I know that God is telling me to write this list on my blog, so out of obedience and not results…here we go:
NEEDS
Kaladha Village: Shova and Bharat’s church needs a roof and windows, future orphanage, women’s ministry needing sewing machine, Shova and Bharat personally need a laptop and motor bike for ease in travel to ministry.
Kathmandu: Church Boys United (Christian Football Team)/ Sports Ministry want to host huge sports event and then preach to 25,000 people; Reuban is starting Bible Classes, Bible distribution needs bibles in both Nepali and English
Dungdunge Village: School (needs listed in previous blog), Bibles and school supplies too!, Clothes for village children (money best)
Urlabari: Reuban has purchased land for Orphanage…needs money to build building.
Domukas: Papa (Reuban’s Father) starting another church in this village
Remote Villages: Jesus Film Projects led by Reuban’s brother Soloman, need voltage converter, money for Soloman to travel, Tracks and Bibles.
DREAMS
Talking to State Side Graphic Designers about possibly designing a website that would have links to press for these different areas in order to give…possible paypal account or something for donations. This website would also link Reuban’s other sites as kind of a hub for all his ministries. (maybe class project, or ask GD students)
We had Reuban make a video explaining what the needs are for the school…we would like to start showing this at local churches in our home towns.
Possible sponsorship program for the village children so that people can pay for their uniforms and school supplies and have a specific child’s picture to be praying for…somewhat like compassion but 100% of funds would go to kids.
Have churches have clothing drive for kids in villages.
Chapel services at our colleges and high schools to show the needs here in NEPAL
Penny Drives at my highschool for money
Talking to Oncampus Ministries
Samford Thursday Night Musician Night where maybe someone would want to fundraise for this.
Nehemiah Project
Getting a Christian Motorcycle Club to get a Moto for Bharat
Ok…so these are some things we brainstormed about. We will take any and all situations. I would love your continued prayer about these things and then if God so moves you also ACTION. I know first hand how easy it is to think of cool ideas and write them out…the hard part is def. acting upon them. So join with me in being a Body of Believers that not only believes in the right thing but DOES the right thing. WAKE UP AMERICA…its time to act!
