NEPAL | Kaladha

The days in Kaladha were such an experience.
Shova and Bharat’s family has become like our family in less than a week. It
was hard to say good-bye to that village, but I know that God has huge plans
for their ministry.

Bharat is currently the head pastor of their
church. They have a building that is in the process of being built, but
construction has stopped just short of a roof due to lack of final funds to
finish the job. They are lacking around $3,000 USD in order to finish their
church which has been in process for about 6 years. This church is a long
rectangle built with sloppy brick work and a cement floor. It is bigger than
most in the village because they desire to make it a meeting place for the 16
churches in the area, who once a month are all together. Currently their church
is meeting in Bharat’s family’s home. They meet in the hallway. It fits only
two people across, and then everyone else has to sit outside where they can’t
even see the “pulpit”. But even without chairs or room, people from
all over the village still come.

It is amazing to see the youth that make the
trek. Two in particular know about Jesus and desire a relationship with him,
but their family’s are Hindu’s or Buddhist and if the families ever knew they
had become Christians they could be thrown out, beat, or worse. Therefore,
youth ministry is extremely important. Shova and Bharat also desire to build an
orphanage in the area, for orphaned, abused, and street children. They both
have such a big heart for children, which can be seen in the countless number
of neighborhood children and teens that visit the house all day just to play,
and Shova and Bharat are there to feed and love on them as long as they stay.

Shova also has a women’s ministry once a month
that she is starting to expand to once a week. All the women that we have met
have amazing hearts, but most of their stories are heartbreaking, filled with
abuse, lonliness, and rejection. There is quite a large need for these women to
be poured into and filled with the knowledge of the love of Christ. In addition
to bible study she also wants to get supplies in order to teach them more
skills like sewing and jewelry making so they can make work for themselves.

The newlywed couple have such BIG God size plans
for Kaladha and such a passion to do God’s will. They are only in the
beginning stages of their ministry and I can’t wait to see how God uses them
and their village to bring more into His kingdom.

After a few days in the village of Kaladha, I am
now on my way to Ilam. We are currently staying in the village of Reuban’s
uncle and will be doing children ministry all today. Tomorrow we will be on the
road again, ending our day with some fishing and then the rest of the week we
will be doing 3-4 hour hikes every day to reach our final destination in Ilam
where Reuban’s village is. We are all very excited for the adventure that is
ahead of us and I can’t wait to tell you all the God stories that are about to
unfold in this next week!
