CAMBODIA | Phnom Penh
I finally arrived in Cambodia early Saturday morning after a long night of travels. We left Manila at 9pm and got to Singapore at 12:30am. We spent the rest of the night/morning hanging around the airport. Did you know they have a swimming pool in their airport? After 6 hours of sitting around we finally boarded our plane at 6:30. Once in the plane they told us that they had lost our luggage, and it would arrive the next morning in Phnom Penh, which delayed our flight so we didn’t actually make it until around 10 am.
Luckily I had packed an extra set of clothes in my carry-on, so I was able to put on some clean clothes once we got to the YWAM base that we were staying at. The next two days were busy due to orientation to learn Cambodian cultures and procedures for the next month and also touring Phnom Penh.
We were able learn a lot about the Cambodian genocide that occurred just 12 years before. It is hard to believe that genocide to that extent was going on while I was alive. Now the Cambodian population is made up of mainly younger people that are uneducated.
