CAMBODIA | Siem Reap

I AM HERE! We left last Monday and made it here around 6 that night! It is absolutely beautiful here. I feel like we aren’t even on the world race because our YWAM accommodations are so great. We have basically what looks like a mansion to live in. It is a beautiful 17 room house where we live on the third floor. It has its own balcony and access to the roof. There are 6 bedrooms so everyone has their own room except Janell and I and we are sharing.

The city is absolutely gorgeous. On Monday night, some of the YWAM staff took us to this street that has all the sidewalk eating places that are $1 to $1.50 a plate! It is right by Pub street where all the Karaoke bars are. There are also these awesome coffee places with free wifi, which I am currently taking advantage of! One is similar to a Starbucks but with more of a full menu for lunch and ALL their profits go to benefit organizations in Cambodia. It is also a Christian-run business. There is also another place called Blue Pumpkin that is all white inside. They sell lunch and dinner but are known for their ice cream and pastries. They have three levels: the store/pastry area, the bean bag chill area, and then the air conditioned couch floor which is the best! It all makes me feel very much like I am in America.

Though, outside of those doors you see a tuk-tuk drive by and then a monk with his yellow umbrella and I realize I couldn’t be in America. But I love it here. The YWAM base provided bikes for us to ride around, so I am definitely getting my work out. Everything is close, but it has been interesting trying to figure out what street rules to obey and which to ignore. I have found that when in doubt, just go and pray that you don’t get hit!

Well that is all for now, stay tuned for info on our other ministry opportunities!
