A few weeks ago our contact in Nicaragua, Steven, took us to the streets where women and girls are selling themselves for sex.

My expectations before we went out were

– that the women and girls would not want to talk

– that we would go to one or two street corners and there would be many people there

– that I would not be affected by what I saw (maybe sounds harsh, but it is honestly how I felt)

– that the experience was going to be depressing and not fun

What actually happened that Friday night was first we cooked burritos for the women.  As we drove up to the first street corner, Steven told us that there was a girl who was ten years old who works there.  We spent about five minutes there handing out food and chatting with the people there.  Most of the women and girls there know the ministry and Steven.  We went to about four more stops, staying longer at some spots then others.  One conversation lead to another missionary sharing the gospel with two women.  Please pray that those women would recognize that what the missionary said is the truth.

The first spot had the most people there, maybe ten. The rest of the spots had about two to five people.

On our way home that night Steven said that there are about 150 spots in Managua similar to the ones we visited that night.  It makes me sad and frustrated that there are so many women on the streets, and that is just in Managua!

I want to go out there and tell them that there is a God who loves them and has better plans for them.  He wants them to have life to the full!

That Friday night however I felt that many of these women just needed a friend and someone to talk to.  Someone who did did not look down on them but genuinely cared about them.  Through Jesus I pray we were able to do that.

The experience was different then what I expected it to be.  It was actually fun handing out food and asking questions to the people we met.  I thank God that He gives us joy doing his work.

Please continue to pray for Breaking Chains!
