In the Philippines my team was with team alabaster. We partnered with an organization called Threads of Hope that sells bracelets that Filipinos make to people in the U.S. This helps the Filipinos because they are getting income from the bracelets and it helps people in the states because they can sell the bracelets as fundraisers for trips such as the World Race. Anyways, about five years ago the founders of Threads of Hope started a church in Mindoro, an island in the Philippines. They brought in a Filipino pastor and his family to live in the community.
Day to day the we helped it the church by doing some manual labor in the morning. We weeded, cleaned, and did some concrete work on their driveway. In the afternoons we had time to build relationships with the local people. They are so welcoming and hospitable that it was fun to get to know them.
On Saturdays we went with the pastors daughter, JoJo, to about four different locations to do children's ministry. JoJo is great with the kids. While we were their the kids learned about the armor of God from Ephesians 6.
The last Saturday we were in the Philippines we had a game day for the kids at the church. About 60 children from the nearby communities came for a few hours in the afternoon. We all had a lot fun!
iSquad is in India for the month of February. My team is in Andhara Pradesh in southern India. We are traveling to different orphanages this month. Please pray that we would have energy to keep up with the kids!
