1. On time means on time unless you are dealing with more than one person.
  2.  Coleslaw alone does (not) make a sandwich.
  3.  Kids are great detectors at authenticity and horrible judges at distance. Both of these come into effect when “playing” becomes jumping off of a ledge to see if your new “friend” will catch you.
  4. Learn from your past, but let God dictate your future.
  5. No matter how “good” you are at speaking a foreign language, if the people see you trying, they will bend over backwards to help you.
  6. Being a white American has many stereotypes that I was not prepared for.
  7. With God, trust who He is, not what He does.
  8. I can preach… no really, I can!
  9. Laughter is universal.
  10. Hospitals are lonely places. Perhaps that’s why God told us to “heal the sick”.
  11. Flattery will get you nowhere. Kindness will get people to look at you with suspicion. Sacrifice will get you into people’s hearts.
  12.  I asked God to break my heart. Not only did He do so, but He gave me a better one to replace the broken one.
  13. Never go back to your old bad habits as a sign of comfort. It’s voluntary slavery.
  14. Shouting at God is a monologue. Praying to God is a dialogue. Trusting God is living.
