My mentor back home mentioned this once and the more I think about it, the more I see this is true. Fear is the THOUGHT something MAY happen. Hope (in Christ) is WAITING for something that WILL happen.
Fear is irrational because we conjure up different thoughts in our mind to keep us from being fully functional and fulfilling a purpose. Hope is the opposite because it motivates us to act. We have positive expectations, therefore, moving us forward to make these hopes realities.
Hope and faith are linked with one another. Scripture teaches us “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen,” (Hebrews 11:1). Fear binds us to not do what we are called to do. Fear causes us to forget about who God says He is and what He says He will do. If we hope in God, we have faith in Him. We have faith that He will fulfill His promises.
Evil must be replaced with good. Lies are supposed to be replaced with truth. Hope in Christ restores everything that fear destroyed.
