As you may or may not know David Reyes has been one of the only men on our team of seven through most of this year. He has been with six other women for a majority of this trip. He is a man after Gods heart and loves serving. He came on this 11 month journey with his beautiful wife- Catherine Reyes. We have served alongside of them for 10 months now and it would not have been the same without them. We have seen David embrace the days, love deeper, battle through life and stretch for the Kingdom of God.
We wanted to honour him for being the only man and serving his team and this world so well. We heard of a great idea of how to do that, a night dedicated to him- MANS NIGHT! The six of us woman came together and we went about accomplishing this mission. We got David distracted for a good half hour. We then attempted our best to dress like Men, putting borrowed clothes on that hung off our bodies. We sent up at the roof top, with a table filled with junk (all of David’s favourites- Peanut M&M, Coca Cola, Snickers Bars, Chips, etc) and played loud music.
As David walked in I think he was a bit shocked considering his wife was no longer known as Catherine but as “Carlos” and we all had girly deep man voices. “Carlos” welcomed David to MANS NIGHT with a five second man hug. We laughed and made a toast to David -a man of noble character, perseverance, passion and a deep desire to give his all to God.
It was a fun filled night to honour David Reyes.
