Venturing out of Gua Musang, to villages deep within and
through to Cameron Highland our Contact (Kumar) takes us on an adventure of a
lifetime. Team GLO (7) plus our squad leaders (2) and two others jam pack into
a hot sweaty van- ready for a three hour road trip. We headed to the first village
to present a drama and speak the word of God, which was interesting in itself
because it was a group of Muslims and Christians, not fully committed to
either. We did our first drama (of the year) and I had the great opportunity to
bring the word of God to this group. I have never really spoken before in a
group, but I just allowed the Holy Spirit to talk through me and I walked off
thinking “Wow God, crazy things happen when I give you the control, thank you”.  After that we ventured into the other village
but to our surprise the road was to muddy to get us up (plus with all of us it
was too heavy- ha), we just kept sliding back and slipping all over the road (I
was laughing so hard my stomach hurt, plus at that exact moment they told us we
could see wild elephants so I got really excited – but no luck there).

What was next? What was the plan? We turned the van around
and Kumar brought us to a house where we could stay for the night.  We got there not knowing what to expect, but
were presented with a hut to sleep in, where a local family lived.  It was an opportunity of a lifetime! This
family lived in this hut with no other houses around, living off the land (picking
bananas, pineapple, and coconut from the trees), no washroom, or power (just a
generator they used on occasion)- just living the simple life.  We did the drama and worshiped God together (we
all believed and served God) in English and Malay- it was beautiful coming together.
We were able to pray for healing over bodies and encourage them in their faith.
God surprised us all and had his own
plans in store- we need to stop wondering what the next step is and just let
God lead.  We were encouraged by their
faith and walked out humbled and totally blessed by the love, generosity, and
hope they gave to us.

After the night of sleeping on the floor in the hut (all together),
we drove up the mountain to Cameron Highlands. Cameron Highlands was a
beautiful place of God’s beauty. It is a place where they grow and make tea and
are also known for their strawberry fields.  It was a beautiful sight, reminding me of
driving through the Rocky Mountains back home. We had the delight in getting
out at many stops to take photos and truly take it all in. Our contact wanted
to give us the true Malay experience and he did. We were beyond blessed to see
and experience what we did. My eyes saw beauty, my heart was joyful, and my
nose smelt the aroma of God.

After four days out in the jungle of Gua Musang and other
places we headed back to Kuala Lumpur. Taking the 10 hour train back (which was
one of the worst things ever -as all the team agrees), we FLEW back and forth
all night, bright lights in our faces, and loud sounds creeping into our
ears.  7 am we arrive back to Kuala Lumpur
(not sure it was safely, but we are alive)!
