I never thought ministry would look like this. I never thought it would be so powerful.  I never knew a young child without shoes and a bed to sleep in at night could praise the Lord the way that I watched these children worship. It was beautiful.

We were able to sing a few worship songs at church on Sunday.

This month our ministry is working with an organization named GEMS. Gospel Echoing Missionary Society and it is AMAZING and OUTRAGEOUS. They have a home for children affected by the Polio virus, a nursing school, hospital, dental office, village sponsorship programs, English Medium School, convention center, children’s hostel, vocational school programs, girls training program, and so much more. It is humbling to see how they are so in tune with the voice of God and they don’t hesitate for a minute to give everything to help a brother or sister.

We are staying for the month on a compound, in a guest house which has a dorm feel to it. Squatty potties included. Hot water for bucket showers is available which is a PRAISE. We “take” our meals in the Director’s house, Brother Augustine Jebakumar and they are delicious. I specifically have been enjoying the wheat tortilla like things we have every night AND the chai tea we are served up to 4 times a day. It’s no wonder so many of the people here are diabetic.

The first couple of days we went on tours of the compound and visited all the different opportunities that are available to us to help the mission here. We will visit a village project about 40 minutes away for the first week and work with the children there and then we will take it week by week as to our ministry assignments.

Although this month is going to be filled with a myriad of different ministries I believe that we will be able to have an impact on this campus and I am excited to see what future World Race teams will also offer GEMS.
