Training Camp for the World Race 2011 was like nothing that I have experienced before. The progress that everyone made in their walk with Christ was indescribable. The changes made in lives was incomparable. Above all else the call that was responded to was nothing short of AMAZING. The first night we were asked to abandon a number of things to include expectations, desires, anything holding us back from being wrecked in the name of Jesus Christ. Once you made this commitment you put your thumb print on the canvas which were then joined together to make this wall hanging. Such a simple picture what does it really symbolize? For me, it was letting go, laying down, surrender . It was a realization this is not going to be easy, there will be storms, we will be tired, dirty, smelly, exhausted, and this is where we must ABANDON. This is where FAITH, GRACE, an UNDESERVING LOVE take place because we serve an ALMIGHTY GOD. It means GIVING UP …my comfortable American existence to spread the REDEEMING LOVE of Jesus Christ in the slums, dumps, rubble, refugee camps, orphanages and being at the bottom and watching GOD show up in amazing ways. It means coming back in November 2011 and having a new “normal”.
An element of Training Camp that I can’t shake is when one of the speakers stood in front of 200 of us “World Racers” and made the charge….“Once you know YOU are RESPONSIBLE.”
Goodness……..take a minute to think about that…..
For a split second I wish that I didn’t know what I now know….There is a storm inside my head brewing about what all this means. Once you know the HURT, PAIN, SUFFERING that is going on in the World, YOU are responsible for that information and knowledge. It’s overwhelming, scary but yet exciting for me, that I am called to go out and be part of making the difference. Praise God for calling me to GO to the NATIONS.
I pass the challenge on to you. How are you going to be sure that you are not being irresponsible with the information you have?
Think about it…
Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
