Hey Everyone! My name is Char, and in January 2011, I left on a missions trip to 11 countries in 11 months.  You can keep up with what i am doing  while I am on the race right here on my blog, and if you would like to support me, just click on the support me tap to the left of this page.

Whether through prayer or financially your suport will be gladly and greatly appreciated. Financially I need to raise $14,300 to cover all my expenses for the year.

I am also wanting to have a team of people who will commit to praying for myself and my fellow world racers. I would love for you to come along side of me and to be a part of my misistry. Please keep me and my fellow racers in your prayers as we get ready to embark on this journey.
thank you and God Bless.

“Look at the nations and watch–and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” Habikuk 1:5

Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is an island nation in the middle of the Caribbean. With a population around nine million, it’s a country with more affluence than its neighboring country Haiti.

After the earthquake on January 12 in Haiti, the D.R. quickly became home to thousands of refugees searching for food, shelter, and comfort. This month, you’ll serve at orphanages, refugee camps, and more.

The Dominican Republic is also home to full-time Adventures In Missions missionaries Miguel and Kristen Shaul, who live near the border and first responded to the Haiti earthquake when it hit. Much of the work you will be doing will involve working with local pastors and churches to bring hope to those affected by the recent earthquake.

Ecuador

Named after the Spanish word for equator, this country is packed full of natural beauty. From the Amazon river to glaciers atop Andes volcanoes, this country is sure to enthrall you, and it’s people too. As diverse as it’s landscapes, the indigenous and Incan influences give this country a unique culture. Although the country is about 95% Catholic, there are still indigenous shamanistic practices that are integrated in their faith. With more than half of the population sitting at or below the poverty line, Equador is a country waiting for God’s Kingdom to come.

Peru

With a rich history dating back to time of the Incas and an enthralling, vibrant landscape – ever heard of the Andes Mountains? Peru is a land full of wonder and epic stories. It’s also a country in need of experiencing God’s goodness and understanding what it means to have a relationship with the Creator. Many natives still dabble in traditional religious practices and idolatry, but God is up to something in this country. The Peruvian church is becoming thirstier for the truth and authentic spiritual breakthrough. Its political past has been riddled with violence from the likes of the Shining Path guerrilla and Alberto Fujimoto’s presidency, from which both the indigenous poor and urban affluent alike are recovering. Your time here may include moments in the jungle – perhaps a visit to the Macchu Picchu – as well as life in the metropolis. This is one country you won’t forget… especially if you drink the water.

With nearly two million people estimated to be stuck inside of prostitution in Thailand, it has become one of the most popular places for sex tourism. Change lives in the city and rock worlds in the countryside. Thailand’s sure to capture your heart.

Kenya

Who hasn’t heard of Kenya in their lifetime? The Kenyan people are colorful, musical, artistic and hungry for the love of Christ. The Masai bush, the Nairobi metropolis, the Kibera slums…comprise a country diverse yet unified in history. As a new era dawns in Kenya, so does the Gospel of truth and faith. By meeting felt needs in the bush and the city, the World Race produces lasting fruit and lasting ministries to carry on even after we leave.

Uganda

From the Ugandan islands to the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, the African people of these nations share a common bond. Through the wild lands, home to Africa’s “Big Five” animals coexist people, reached and unreached with the Gospel of Christ. Through evangelism, church planting and discipleship, we will be a part of a movement to further the kingdom of God in this incredible region of the world.

Tanzania

Tanzania has a one-third split between Christianity, Islam, and indigenous religious groups. This diversity creates a colorful landscape of people and beliefs. Whether you are doing open-air crusades, door-to-door evangelism or visiting hospitals and orphanages the people of this diverse country will capture your heart.
