I help at a Christian summer camp and this years theme is rooted. This last couple weeks I have been thinking about what it means to be rooted in your faith. First of all what is faith, it is trusting that somthing is real even if you can not see it. Then what does rooted mean; well it means holding firm, just like a trees roots hold it firm in the ground. So being rooted in your faith is more than going to Church and reading your Bible regulary, it is about letting go of all control of your life and letting God take over. When you give control over to God you are saying I have Faith that you know what you are doing and whatever you have in store for my life is going to be better than what I have planned. I am graduating from college in August and as it got closer and closer I started making plans like finding a new job, getting a new car, opening a community center and maybe even meeting a guy, but God had other plans like going to Asia for year. I think it is so easy to make plans and not consider is that what God had in store for your life. When we give control over to God how do we stay rooted espically when times get tough? Well, we have to have a foundation of knowledge that we can pull from just like the trees use their roots to get water, and then we use tools around us such as the Bible, the church of Christ and pray to remind us of this knowledge.
