I grew up with an alcoholic father. He broke a lot of promises and said a lot of hurtfull things. I remember crying myself to sleep becauase my parents fought a lot. When I was about nine my father brought another women home to live with us who he ended up getting pregnant only a few months after we found out my mom was pregnant with my brother. When I was about 11 my parents divorced and my three younger siblings and I stayed with mom. Until I was about thirteen we would see our dad every once in a while. Then after that he moved to Idaho with Joanna and Tristan who is their son and they got married. Around the same time my friend Brittany told me about a summer church camp that she went too and that she wanted me too come with her so I did. During one of the camp fire talks that at first I was not really paying attention too grabbed my attention and it felt like the speaker was talking too me, they were talking about broken hearts and how God can heal them. At the end of the talk the speaker asked if there was anyone who wanted to accept Jesus into their heart and I jumped all over that because I didn’t feel things could get any worse at the time. After this I wanted to learn more about God and be more involved in church. I kept going to pioneer clubs and went to camp every year. Then in high school I started to help at pioneer clubs, went to two different youth groups and I used my spring break to go to Mexico on a mission trip. Then after graduating highschool I started at BMCC and thought I was going to be a nurse and I enjoyed it but I didn’t have the time or funds to do all the activities I had dove into in high school. After a couple years at BMCC I changed my major to bussines and after a couple terms decided that was not right either so I took a year off. After that I start working at Walmart and moved in with my sister. I also found Universty of Phoniex online which is where I will be graduating from with an associates in human services managment in June. Only a few months ago I thought ok awsome i am almost done with school, maybe I will met a great guy and get my community I want to open started here soon and God laughed and said yeah not what I want you to do Chantel. This lead me to where I am today in September I am going to be embarking on an amazing 11 month adventure with some amazing people. I never would have dream of going on this trip. It is amazing to look back at where I have been and the person I have grown into today. Everyone has a story where has your lead you.
