I just recently finished reading the book Redeeming Love. I love this book, it is based on the bible story of Hosea. Sarah is a child who is sold into prositution when her mom died. One of the men she lived with forced her to get her tubes tied so she could not get pregnant again. In this book Michael Hosea is told by God to marry a prostitute named Angel (Sarah), he goes to the brothel she works at and talks to her for several nights until he finally takes her home and marries her. He nurses her back to health for several weeks because the night he took her out of the brothel she had got beaten by the Morgun who works at the brothel for asking for her share of the gold. After she is healthy again she works on the farm with him for several months and one night she leaves to go back to the brothel and once again Michael goes and gets Angel again. Then she lives with him for several more months and has Michaels friend take her back to the brothel, who makes her pay for the ride. Michael eventually goes and gets her one last time and on the way back to his house they met a family who ends up living with them for the winter. Angel loves the family and grows really close with the girls. She has started to fall in love with Michael and realizes that he wants children and so does she but she can not have children . Angel decides she should leave so that Michael can fall in Love with someone else and have children with them. This time Michael does not go and get her. She finds a family who gets her to go to church with them. She ends up opening a house for women that have been in the same situation as her. The house is meant to teach them skills so they can survive with out going back to their old lifestyle. Eventually Michael’s friend who never wanted Angel to stay was convinced he should go get her. When he does he realized that she loved Michael and convinced her to go back home to him. When Angel said Michael, my name is Sarah and they ended up having children. Every time I read this book I rember that God loves us no matter what we have done. God put people in our life to show us how important we are and what we are capable of. As we get ready to leave on our trip I hope we remember that we are going to have the privilege of sharing Gods love with lots of His children and many of them will be broken like Sarah. We could be used as God’s tool to create a spark to help further his Kingdom. I know I feel very honored and can not wait to start this adventure.
