I have never been so excited to say goodbye, goodluck and farewell to anything as much as the way I was to the year 2012!! It started challenging and turmoutlous and ended just the same. As I looked back on it I told myself "you should've known by the way it started that it would've been difficult." So I've kept my eyes wide open as 2013 reaches day 9, attempting to discern the kind of year that I should prepare for….and you've probable figured out by now that I'm writing this blog because I have some kind of idea what to expect. YES! You're right!
2013 seems to be a year of OPPORTUNITY. And I say this with a smile pleasantly plastered across my face. "Ahhh yes…opportunity". That word alone rings in my spirit, ripe with endless possibilities.
I believe the Lord shared with me a few days before coming to Washington D.C. to launch on my World Race that I better be prepared to maximize all the many opportunities about to come my way this year. And my reply… "but Lord, in order to recognize an opportunity, you have to have clear goals." And then he said "well then you better get to seeking clarity on the goals I have for you so that you can see when I put the opportunity in front of you to achieve them."
SILENCE…………………..SELAH………………………………………MORE SILENCE……………………………………..and then JOY!
I have been in D.C. waiting to launch to Costa Rica for 3.5 days and already opportunity is breaking my door down. The opportunity to grow, forgive, heal, laugh, learn, understand, connect, and on and on and on. But probably the most exciting opportunity…..DOING THINGS I'VE NEVER DONE BEFORE and living SPONTANTEOUSLY!!!!
Here's what happened: So my team members suggest, after long meetings and training, to go to the hot tub in our hotel. I was about to decline for personal reasons (hadn't shaved since last summer…jk……..) but decided to throw on my suit and go. And within 20 minutes of being in the hot tub, a group of energitic elderly women invitse us to take a water aerobics class with them. Before I could say yes I was already in the pool exercising and making new wise friends. Then, the instructor pulls me to the front of the group and tells me to instruct the class with her.
WTH (heck)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not an instructor…..and then another opportunity…..STEPPING OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE…. By then end of it, we were all laughing and smiling and having the times of lives! I guess you could call me a regular water aerobics extraordinare 🙂
An unexpected opportunity to do something new, meet great people, achieve my goal of working out and healthy living, and doing something I've never before done happened in the matter of minutes.
WOW! God is great. He has a plan. And He sets us up to reach all the marks He has for us in life. 2013 is an opportune year if only we'll let it be.
