“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17
Once again I was listening to a series by Graham Cooke and he said a statement, “We are all Pharisees being healed.” Wow, try to just rest on that for a second and see if your pride allows it in. Pharisees were Jewish priests who knew the Word of God. They were those that saw the Son of God right before there very eyes, yet were so cloaked in religion that they put Him on the Cross. They outwardly looked perfect yet on the inside were corrupt and evil.
So am I really a Pharisee being healed? Part of me wants to buck it and say no, but when I sit back and expose the deep secrets of my heart, I am indeed. How many times are you feeling like crap on the inside, crushed about something, angry at someone and then you see a friend and they ask how your doing? What do we all say? Unless we are with someone that we really trust we cover up like a Pharisee and tell them what they want to hear.
Why am I even talking about this? Transparency! Transparency is the beginning of humility. If we will not let people into our hurts, our pains, our mistakes, our problems, we are Pharisees stuck in pride. I know that I am going through this lesson right now and I am seeing the joy that the Father wants to give me.
I honestly believe that until we as the church can be transparent, broken and walk in humility and love, God will not pour out the blessings that we are all crying for. The real reason is that we could never handle it. The Spirit of God would not come down to bless, He would come down to kill everything that we are not giving Him. Our pride, our dishonesty, our covets, our jealousy and our sin would be the first thing that He would go after.
Every time that I listen to Graham Cooke I get fired up because the Spirit takes me so deep into how much I need to put God on the throne and take myself off. I am a servant of the Most High God. If you look at how Paul, Peter, Timothy and all the other Apostles addressed people was first a servant called to be an apostle. A servant has no rights and if we get really honest with ourselves, we have no rights. Our rights are in Jesus.
I propose a challenge today and a warning for those that do it. Ask God to reveal our hearts and to heal us in our downfalls. I don’t know why I pray these prayers but hey, let’s keep moving forward. Have a glorious day.
