Last year we had at one point talked about going to South America. I was very excited because I had never been to South America and something just seemed special about the continent. Well, this year the Lord has answered my prayer and we have now landed in Lima, Peru.

After two days at a church with the entire A squad it was time for the B squad to head to our ministry. Our local contact named Ed McQueen has been in Peru for nearly two years. He especially was excited about the World Race coming to Peru because it would pull him up to the Andes Mountains. Ed has been spending the last two months preparing our ministry deep into the Andes.

Our ministry began with a bus ride from Lima departing at 10:00pm. The bus driver shot off like all of the drivers in Peru and our ten hour climb began.

At around 6:00am our group of 30, including 5 translators and two helpers, awoke to a very chilly morning. Outside we were surrounded by mountains, green fields and rushing rivers.

The next stop was a town called Mancos. This town sits at an elevation of 8,300 feet and is about 45 minutes away from the town of Musho that we are staying in. We pilled into these little station wagons and were off like race cars over rocky roads.

Forty five minutes later we were in our new home town of Musho. Musho has a total population of around 1,000 people and sits right in between two mountain ranges. To the South lies the Black mountains and to the north lies some of the most beautiful snow capped mountains I have ever seen. Musho sits just over 10,000 feet at the base of a snow capped mountain range that towers over 22,000 feet.

I am so excited because for nearly three weeks our host pastor Jose’; who is 23 years old; has been announcing over the local radio station that our group is coming. We are going to be partnering with Jose’s Assemblies of God church for the next 4 weeks. We have been asked to preach/teach 5 times a week and plant a church in the neighboring town of Tumpa.

We are all in a state of shock at the moment of where the Lord has brought us but can feel His presence covering our every step. Our new family has welcomed us with open arms and has shown us a great example of what the love of Christ looks like.

May the Lord of this creation shower down His love in ways that you have never felt before. God Bless.
