“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Our first stop in Nicaragua was to a town called Jinotepe. Jinotepe has nearly 30,000 people and sits about 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Jinotepe is also the home of Glenn and Lynn Schweitzer. Glenn and Lynn are Messianic Jews (Jews who believe that Jesus is the Messiah) who felt the calling to leave the United States business world and become missionaries in Nicaragua.
Since being in Nicaragua for nearly seven years the Lord has worked through them in amazing ways. Glenn is the pastor of Iglesia Nuevo Amanecer, which has nearly 250 members. Glenn lives by Mathew 5:16 which states “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” The fruit of his labor has shown exactly that.
One of the visions that the Lord has given Glenn and Lynn is the development of five acres of Land in Diriamba where their church resides. The development is going to consist of 6 homes that will hold eight orphaned children and a host family in each home. Their property will also hold a clinic, preschool, nursery, vocational school, prayer garden, soccer field and a hostel for missionary teams.
The other part of their vision lies in Lynn’s passion to facilitate missionary teams from all over the world. Glenn and Lynn have purchased a hotel called Casa Mateo. This hotel; if utilized; can be the hub for missionaries all over the world in Nicaragua. They can easily facilitate 120 people at a time and have provided a very comfortable living environment at an unbelievably affordable price.
When I meet people like Glenn and Lynn I get so excited because I see their hearts for the Kingdom of God. They are not looking out for themselves; they are trying to open the doors for workers to come to Nicaragua for the Glory of Jesus Christ.
Over these next three weeks Team Nessa and four media team member will be staying on the property of the church. They will be helping with many different ministries which include operations of the church, barrio ministries, door to door evangelism and a trash dump ministry.
