Some of my “you know you’re on the World Race moments from
the first two months:
Clothes are clean purely based on the fact that they don’t
smell THAT bad
You get sick when you stay in air conditioning too long
because your body’s not used to it
You have to turn off your warm shower because it’s burning
your skin
You’re excited because you got your shower down to half a
bucket
Paying anything over $1 for a plate of rice becomes absurd
You purposely dehydrate yourself for your 10 hour bus ride
because there’s no bathroom
You and 43 other people frantically tear their packs apart
in the airport getting rid of anything they can so they can make weight for the
airplane
The speeds of internet is now slow, slower, or ridiculously
unbearably slow
Your alone time becomes putting in your ipod and closing
your eyes while sitting in a room with 4 other people
You will never be able to get all the shampoo out of your
hair
Having a layer of sweat covering your skin is completely
normal
A pair of scissors can give you a brand new pair of shorts
or a stylish new short sleeve shirt
