First of all, thanks so much for checking out my World Race blog! For those of you I have never met and those I have…
My name is Catherine DeBerry. I am from Indian Trail, NC, but I currently live in Raleigh, NC while attending school at North Carolina State University. I am sophomore majoring in Animal Science and minoring in Poultry Science, but over the past couple months the Lord has been leading me to take a year off of school in order to follow in obedience to Him!
I have two awesome parents, Ed and Susan, my sister, Kristen, and my brother, Eddie. They support me through all of my crazy ideas and adventures and are always keeping me on my toes!
This is a pretty accurate representation of my immediate and extended family…normal pictures are few and far between :). I also have a cat named Echo who is basically like my child. He’s pretty much the cutest thing ever. I’ve also been blessed with some crazy awesome friends who are willing to do crazy things with me like drive cross-country and back in 5 days.
I have done short-term local mission trips throughout high school and college and absolutely loved every minute of it. I also love to travel and have been searching for a way to combine my love of the two; hence, the World Race! I have never been out of the country for more than three weeks by myself, so 11 months will be challenging and stretching, but SO WORTH IT!
I love the Lord with all my heart and in the past year, He has been rocking my world. I accepted Christ when I was 15 years old at a youth Super Bowl party and realized that there was so much more than way I had been living. I’m so, so, so grateful for this opportunity to share Jesus with the rest of the world. My prayer for the next year as I get ready to leave and while I’m on the mission field is that I will draw close to the Lord in a way I’ve never experienced before, that my team and I come show God’s love with those we come in contact with through our words and actions, and that my only desire becomes for the Lord Himself.
