It’s been a few weeks, hasn’t it?
Well, if you didn’t already know, I am writing this from the relative comfort of home in Phoenix (and I say relative because Phoenix has had a “cold” snap recently… it’s a little chilly right now).
I flew into New York City, and made my way up to Maine to spend Thanksgiving with my sister, brother-in-law, niece, and (oldest) nephew.
Zack, me, and Gwen at Thanksgiving 2006
My two week there were a wonderful time of peace, quiet, and reconnection with a few of the people I love dearly in this world.
But there was a moment or two when I had to step back, and take a few moments to recompose myself.
One of the things I told myself throughout the race, when I started missing my family – especially my niece and nephews – was that I would have all the time in the world with them when I got home.
That there would be plenty of time to shower them with love.
And that the children… the people… in front of me in whatever moment I was in needed love in that moment, so I needed to show it while I was there.
I believe telling myself that was enough to allow me to do exactly that (most of the time).
And having all the time in the world after eleven months of telling myself it would be coming was a little overwhelming at first.
Now, it’s a matter of reminding myself of all the people I met in those eleven months.
To help myself remember, and to show everyone else, here are just a few of the people around the world who got to see God’s love in action through me:
Team Ohana in Waikanae, New Zealand
Youth in Kompong Thom Province, Cambodia
Students at the Love Celebration School in Narosura, Kenya
University Students in Budapest, Hungary
Thank you to ALL of my supporters – your prayers, financial contributions, encouragements, and (most of all) LOVE helped make all of this (and more) possible.
P.S. – Stay tuned – I’ll be writing a blog or two in the coming days about what God has called me to next (and I’m pretty giddy about it).
