Things are finally cooling off here in Phoenix…
just in time for me to leave for Georgia
for training camp in the middle of the month. Yes, that’s right – training camp
is nearly upon me, and I couldn’t be more excited! 110+ January 2010 World
Racers will be descending on Gainseville, GA
October 16th for nine days of training, equipping, praying,
worshipping, and fellowshipping together before we leave in January. Teams will
be determined, hearts and minds will be changed, and everyone will be on fire
with the vision of what God wants to do in and with us next year!

isn’t that far away, either. In just about three months… all of this will be
real life. No more preparing – I’ll be there. It seems so far away, and so
close at the same time. I’m thrilled that all of you will be following me on
this journey (or with me, fellow WRs who joined the facebook).

Upcoming Fundraisers:

National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50,000+ word novel in 30
days. I did it last year, although the novel isn’t something I’m anywhere near
ready to share as of yet! And I’m doing it again this year.

Movie Night/Silent

Can Drive: AZ may not be a cool state where you can return your cans
and bottles and get money back for them, but we can still take them to a
recycling center and get money for them. If you’re in Phoenix,
then I’m asking you to collect your cans and get them to me. If you’re
elsewhere (like, say, Flagstaff), then I’m asking you to get together, collect
cans, take them for recycling, and then send the money my way! Not only are you
getting me on the Race, but you’re doing some pretty sweet stuff for the
environment too.

New Life Baptist Church hosted a benefit concert on
September 12th to raise awareness about and funds for my World Race
adventures. It wasn’t a packed house, but the music was amazing. In all, six
acts sang and played their hearts out, and everyone had a little bit too much
fun for their own good. About $350 was raised (which isn’t much), and I
definitely learned a lot about how to put on a concert from the logistical side
– if anyone wants help in the future!

What Can You Pray For This Month?
1. Fundraising/Support. That I will continue to trust in God’s timing, and not try to rely on where I think I need to be.
2. Training Camp. Safe travel to and from, my future team, that my heart will be open to what God wants to do in and with me both during and after camp, and that I won’t hold anything back.
3. Tara Reed. I don’t know how many of you know what’s been going on with Tara. She’s on the June squad (she went to NAU for a couple of years, which is how I know her), and had an accident several days ago in Romania. Read about what happened here and her prayer requests as she continues to recover here. And pray.
