It’s ONE MONTH today since being back in the states. 30 days ago K Squad landed on USA soil, and within moments said goodbye to each other. I looked back and saw the amazing group together one last time…all the memories from the last 11 months rushed through me. Those travel days of 50 people going from country to country, either carrying or dragging our packs that became our closet for the year and holding onto our valuables that gave us the ability to communicate with loved ones back at home. The moments of pure excitement and sigh of relief when we saw a coffee shop with working wifi, American food that not only tasted like home but was so much cheaper, a toilet we could comfortably sit on and had toilet paper accessible, and a hot shower that you just wanted to spend 10 minutes running the water over your body and through your hair.
Home, United States, the place we are from…this is where we are now. This is where we have been able to sit in the familiar comforts of our living room couches, beds with pillows and comforters, our kitchen tables with wide open windows to look out and see what hasn’t been in our view for the last 11 months. Reentry has been real, although different for each of us.
For me, processing hits me in waves, some days are great and fine and normal…others I’m like….OH BOY! Why am I back already?! This is weird. BUT I’ve been able to really process this adjustment…what it feels like again to not be in an environment with 7 or 8 other people sharing everything together. I miss it, for sure I do! I’m so thankful that I had the opportunity to live life that way with people who have such big hearts to serve, love, and be loved…the intentional feels were real! God used people on my teams, on my squad, in the countries we served in, and my passions for Him to teach me and grow me during this season. I LOVED living in community, which is something I know exists. The feeling I had within THIS community on the World Race is one I never imagined existed. God showed me how much the body of Christ can get along and love each other so well, genuinely caring about others’ feelings and opinions and their lives and futures. I met people in 11 countries, each one making a mark on my life in a special way.
Wrapping it up! The best way to do that is to end with a scripture. Well, maybe a couple! For all my supporters, thanks so much for your prayer and financial support! You’ve definitely helped so much with making this year happen for me!
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield. The Lord gives grace and glory; He does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity.” Psalm 84:11
“This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations. And then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14
