Mum Su is a boy in my class. He is 9 years old. Both of his parents have passed away so he lives with a relative. The relatives let him sleep there but that seems to be about it. He doesn’t attend any other school besides his free English lessons and he comes to tell base every day for lunch which is his only meal for the day. I am blown away by his joy and his love to learn. He is the brightest student in my class and when he finishes his work he slaps his hand on the desk and yells “Fin” which means finished. He is always smiling. Several times he has come to the base and knocked on my room door yelling “Cassie!” When I come out he says “Temple Run?” With the biggest smile on his face so I tell him to meet me in the kitchen. I go grab my kindle fire and meet him. One time we sat in the kitchen for almost an hour playing Temple Run.
This little boy has my heart. He is very special to me and I am going to miss him very much. Even though he doesn’t speak much English I have just enjoyed loving on him and telling him about Jesus. I am hoping to stay in contact with him to see how his English is going. I know someday Su and I will meet again.
