Let me start off by saying I LOVE CAMBODIA!! ☺ The people here are all so beautiful and friendly. Almost everyone drives scooters, motorcycles, and bicycles. Our primary mode of transportation this month is a tuk-tuk, which is basically a cart being pulled by a motorcycle. I think it’s my favorite mode of transportation so far on the Race, and is also by far the craziest driving we have experienced!! Everyone watches out for themselves, though, so I guess it works! I have yet to see an accident. There are literally thousands of motorcycles out on the road all weaving through traffic at different speeds. Everyone just pulls out into oncoming traffic and somehow nobody gets hit. It’s amazing!

This month, we are working with Cambodian Mission Outreach in Phnom Penh, Cambodia at New Hope School. In the morning, I teach English to a class of 5-year-olds-absolutely the cutest kids I’ve ever seen!! I love them more and more each day! My favorite thing is hanging out with them outside of class during recess/snack time and during their lunch break. They are so great! Most of them just want to give high-fives, play “Paper, Rock, Scissors” or be held and loved. They are some of the most beautiful children I have ever seen and they are always so joyful ☺ (I also teach a 3rd grade class. Let’s just say they don’t understand much English and I don’t have a translator, so it makes for an interesting class!!)

We are also helping out with the youth group at New Life Church. Every Saturday night, we have a time of worship and teaching with the youth. This past week, in celebration of the Khmer New Year, we sang songs, played some crazy games, and had a dance party!! They taught us how to do some traditional Khmer dances and asked us to teach them American dances. We showed them the Macarena. After service, we took some of the youth out for pizza. We maxed out the capacity of a tuk-tuk (people sitting on laps and Allan sat on the moto behind the driver) and even had to get out and push it up a hill at one point. It was an incredible night of laughing and fellowship ☺

God has definitely been confirming some things this month:
  • I love teaching 5 year olds!! ☺
  • I love discipling teenagers/university students

This month, we have the opportunity to join with a couple of other ministries and churches in the area and have met some amazing people through those as well. More on that in the coming blogs…
