I absolutely cannot believe we have already been here for a week! So much has happened, and yet at the same time it seems like we haven’t done much. Tony emailed us all a few days ago to give us an update on life in Honduras and it was very encouraging to hear that the boys are doing well and things are moving along as planned even without us there. We had planned a carnival in El Horno before we left so that the new groups could get to know the community during their first weekend on the farm. We figured only about 30 people would show up, and apparently God blew them away with over 100 people. That definitely speaks to the testimony of the lasting impact we had on the community when we were there.
Lillian decided to leave her abusive boyfriend and move back into the house with her boys!! This is something she had agreed to do once the new house was built, but that hasn’t even happened yet and she has already moved home to live with her family. God’s timing is so perfect. The boys started their incentive program this week. They have the opportunity to earn 3 stars each week, and at the end of the week they will be allowed to go to the farm if they have earned all their stars for the week. They can earn one star for perfect attendance at school (5 days a week.), another if they remain clean from paint thinner for the entire week, and a third star if they attend church that week. If all three of those things are accomplished they can spend the night at the farm on Friday night.
Yesterday, we got to Skype with three of the boys-Cristo, Fernando, and Josue-which was incredible! It was kind of bittersweet because we were able to see them and talk to them in our limited Spanish, but we just wanted to be able to hug them and love on them. It was still really great to see them and tell them how much we love and miss them. Fernando told me he loves me and he wanted us all to get on a plane and fly back to Honduras. I so wish we could.
