10/7/10

Wow, yesterday was incredible!! We got up at 4am to catch our bus at 5am from Antigua to Tegucigalpa. The bus arrived ON TIME…not something to be expected in Central America. I was impressed! We loaded up 13 people with all our stuff into a 15 passenger van. It was pretty crammed to say the least. We got on the road around 5:15 and drove the bumpy roads of Antigua on our way to Tegucigalpa, Honduras–supposedly a 7-9 hour drive. 18 hours later we arrived at our destination for the month–an incredible retreat center up in the mountains. We are so lucky!! Our ministry contact, Tony, is absolutely an amazing man of God. He gave us 4 days to rest, relax, spend time with the Lord, and build relationships. What a great way to start off the year. He told us a bit about what this month might look like and I couldn’t be more excited! There are 2 towns that he works with–el Horno and Los Pinos. He has built relationships with many of the people in both locations–when he came here they hated him and now that he has loved them and built relationships they have been changed and their hearts have been transformed. Praise God!! The big problem here is getting high from paint thinner, and Tony has helped many of the boys get clean. Friday night, we’re having a party up here for the boys Tony disciples and their families. I am so excited to start meeting the families!! Saturday, we are going into town for a meeting with some of the moms in the village to make a list of what programs they want to set up. Stay tuned to find out more about what we’ll be doing this month…
