In case you were wondering….the "Circle of Life" song is not in Swahili. My team found this out when we tried to have our Kenyan contact translate the song for us….pretty humorous. 🙂

Here are some fun Swahili words/ terms:

jambo = hello

asante sana = thank you very much

rafiki = friend

hakuna matata = no problems

Jina langu ni Cassie. = My name is Cassie.

karibu = welcome

Kenya has been AMAZING! I L.O.V.E. Africa!

My team and I have done many different ministry projects this month. We are working with a church in Nakuru, Kenya. It is a beautiful city full of beautiful people!

Our first Saturday in Africa, we went out and did door-to-door evangelism. I was not looking forward to this particular ministry, I didn't want to push faith like a salesman. But what God showed me that day BLEW my mind. We talked with a boy on the street. He decided right away to accept Christ and follow Him with his life. And literally he followed. He followed us around the town the rest of the day and came back to the church with us. He spoke with the pastor and dedicated his life to the Lord. Amen! We also prayed with a woman in her home. I was able to tell her about the love and freedom that Jesus alone can offer. She very readily accepted Christ and has been attending church the past two Sundays. Amen! It was awesome to see the Holy Spirit work in these two individuals lives. My team and I were also able to pray with multiple other families for healing and for provision. It was not pushy or fake at all. It was a huge blessing to me to be the hands and feet of Jesus that day.

We have also been able to visit multiple orphanages over the past week. I was overwhelmed by God's love for His children. It was a joy to be able to show them love. Each child with a story and with a purpose.

We have been introduced to and have eaten some delicious African food. Chipatee and lentils. Ugali and greens. Rice and spiced vegetables. Beans and maize. Yumm.

We have heard the endearing term of "Muzungoo" (translates to "white person") yelled at us countless times as we walk down the street.

We have become very close sleeping six girls in three beds in one room under three mosquito nets. Very cozy.

We have managed to fit 7 people into 1 little tuk-tuk to ride on bumpy roads full of pot holes to our ministry site everyday. Adventurous.

We have had conversations with the street vendors about Jesus and have been invited to pray with them over their shops and for their families.

We have had the opportunity to dance, really dance, like "need to put your hair up it's getting so hot" dance…during the Sunday worship services.

We have experienced what Ohana (family, our team name) really means. It has been awesome to be able to be so open and so vulnerable with my brand new team.

Kenya… has been us journeying together to find out and live out the calling that God has put on our lives.

I love and miss you all! I appreciate your continued prayers, encouragement and support more than you know! I am just $2,005.00 away from my final 1/1/2013 deadline of $15,500.00! I am so blessed!!  🙂
