Last night I missed all the festivities.
I missed fireworks, all the ooooohs and aaaaahs of the community.
Surprisingly, I didn’t miss them because I was in another country.
I missed the celebration of Independence because I was sleeping.
No one forced me to sleep.
I chose to sleep and not
celebrate.
In 2010 I missed celebrating 4th of July in America because I chose to leave the country and serve my brothers and sisters in another land. I had just finished my first visit to Kisumu, Kenya and I could not get those girls off my mind.
Still two years later and I am choosing not to get them off my mind.
Everything I do today is in pursuit of helping my girls and boys in Kenya.
I could have chose to stay awake last night, walk down the street and enjoy the fireworks.
Many of my children in Kenya don’t know of this independence because they have been placed in bondage to early marriages to much older men, dangerous circumcision rites ceremonies, poverty, death of parents to HIV/AIDS, etc…
REDEEM With God can offer freedom to the children of Kisumu, Kenya through the arts. Our arts program is a great tool for building lasting relationships and introducing children to a Father who will never leave them nor forsake them. In addition to the after school art’s program, we provide books/stationery, uniforms and minimal healthcare. With 50 children in our program, we are in need of sponsors.
Please choose today to provide a day of Independence to a little boy or girl in Kisumu Kenya. Go to the following link. Choose a name. Majority of the names provide information about the child that you can read. Then click to be their full sponsor or to provide them with one or two of their needs. After sponsoring a child, you will be given full access to their photos and letters online.
* The children’s names in our sponsorship program, Intreach Ukombozi, are not shown for their protection!*
