Off days can usually bring division
to our team.  We all have different
ideas of what we’d like to do.
Some would rather have a relaxing day, some an adventurous day.  I never thought our Kenyan friends could lead a day bringing
joy to each of us.

Our day began uploading Father’s
Day videos.  We were all able to
check a few emails and update our statuses on Face book.  After lunch we learned our
surprise.  We
were going on a walk to Lake Victoria, the 2nd largest lake in the
world.
  We walked thru the
bus stop, past the souvenirs venders, through a beautiful park with men
sleeping in the grass, across a busy highway.

Young children greeted us as we
passed their houses.  Cows, ducks,
turkeys, goats, sheep and birds greeted us on the streets.  Old men and women smiled bright as we waived
their way.  People could be seen
visiting a dead body through the gate we passed.  The colors purple, pink, yellow, white, red, green laughed
with us as we took photos of the flowers.
Tons of coca cola stood stacked at the coca cola factory.  Four Mercedes bins were carefully
packed under the garage of the judges.
Children and women strolled past carrying large jugs of water on their
heads, many mothers with small babies on their backs.  We walked enjoying the conversations of our teammates.

When we arrived at Kiboko Bay
resort we were shocked at how beautiful it was.  The 2 ½ hour walk was well worth the result.  We were able to sit on their balcony by
only purchasing water.  After some
time hippopotamuses could be seen swimming in the lake.  All eight of us climbed into the boat
with our life jackets on.  Hippos
were all over the water.  Teammates
kept asking questions.  Do Hippos
kill people?  Do they eat them or
crush them to death?

It’s so funny.  In the midst of sitting in the church
writing this blog, a little boy just ran in after a turkey was chasing
him.  HA HA HA!

I love Kenya.  I’m sad we’re
leaving on Monday.  I’ve learned a
lot from Kenyan people.
I’ve enjoyed the long walks, learning about the culture of these people
and delighting myself in their animals.
I can’t wait for the Safari in Tanzania.
