Telling people you’ve been called into the mission field can be a challenge; asking those same people to support your endeavors is like climbing Everest Mountain.  When you get to the top, it’s a wonderful sight but climbing up can be strenuous, discouraging, discomforting and can easily tempt you to give up.

Since I committed to the World Race in May, I have sent out nearly 150 support letters, left business cards at resturants and informed everyone I know or meet.  It’s been difficult asking for money and new supporters.  I’ve learned that I can’t do this alone; the Lord is my number 1 supporter.

My goal this time around was to inform people who may have never supported a missionary before.  I wanted to educate people of the attrocities overseas and how we as believers can lend a helping hand.

Facebook has been a wonderful avenue for getting the word out about my mission trip.  I’ve had people who I don’t even know supporting my efforts to go overseas and teach the gospel.

One week ago I wrote in my status updates that I only had $3,381 in my mission account and would like to have $4,000 by the end of the week.  The end of the week I held a bowling benefit and raised $264, while amazing not enough to reach $4,000.  So today I wrote another status, asking for donations of $15.  Tonight when I checked my mission account there was $4,324.  HALLELUIAH!!!  God even responds to facebok statuses.  LOL.  Even when I had doubts, God showed me that nearly $1,000 can be raised in 1 week.  It’s not on my time but on his.

If you haven’t supported a missionary before, I dare you to try God.  Please “support me” and watch what God will do to 11 countries in 11 months.  It might feel like we’re slowly climbing Everest Mountain but I promise when we get to the top it would have been well worth it!
