“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”
It’s near impossible to put into words all of my expectations for the World Race. I tell people how excited I am to be going, but that doesn’t even begin to cover the thoughts I have daily about what the Race is going to be like. Let me take a few minutes to be vulnerable, and share some of my expectations with you.
I expect to see some of the most beautiful places on earth. I’ll be near two of the 7 wonders of the world; from the mountains in Nepal to the temples in Thailand, I expect to be constantly in awe of God’s creation.
I expect to grow with my team. We will be spending every day together for 11 months, and I expect to go through good times and bad times, to experience both conflict and celebration together.
I expect to cry. When I serve in Swaziland, the country with the highest HIV/AIDS infection rate in the world, I expect to cry; When ministering to the refugees in Burma, I expect to cry. I expect my heart to be broken for these people, and I expect my faith to be stretched.
I expect to be out of my comfort zone. I expect to be forced to try foods I don’t like, to wear clothing I’m not used to, to hear languages I don’t understand, and to serve when I’m tired.
Of course this only begins to cover what I expect from the World Race. I know that over these next 5 months of preparation my expectations are going to change. I expect to get to the end of my comfort zone. I know that it is at this point that God is going to work in crazy ways. The most exciting part of going on the Word Race is that I will be forced to fully trust God’s guidance and provision. I will be forced to forget my expectations and rely on His promises.
I am relying on God to provide everything I need to go on the World Race. This includes the financial support that I need to launch. I need to raise a total of $15,000 which includes travel, food, and other ministry expenses for the entire 11 months. If you would like to be a part of my support team, please follow the ‘support me’ tab on the left side of this page. If 27 people support me at $50 a month for the length of the trip, I will be fully funded!
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.“
Proverbs 3:5-6
