A wife of noble character. . . . . who can find? She Is worth far more than rubies the scriptures say. So, whether you are a single gal who longs to be this type of wife or a married woman praying that she is even half of what this scripture says, I am convinced that this is GOD’S heart for every married, single, or widowed woman out there!
When you look at Proverbs 31, of course the first thing you realize is the roll that GOD has called every woman to play as they enter into marriage, but I also have found myself looking at the husbands response to his wife when she is playing this roll. It says that her husband has full confidence in her and calls her blessed and praises her because of it, taking full value in her. A Proverbs 31 wife knows that she is a woman of noble character not just because of her doings, but because of the way her husband responds to her doings, and for that reason she longs to please and submit to her husband all the days of her life.
So as thoughts ran through my head on how I could shape and prepare my heart for my husband to be a Proverbs 31 wife, I heard the Lord say to me in a quiet and gentle voice, but why are you not preparing yourself to be my Proverbs 31 wife. . . . . ? Why are you not shaping your heart to submit and please your heavenly husband? Why are you not anticipating the return of your heavenly groom as much as you are anticipating the reveling of your earthly groom? Why are you prepared to pick up your life and follow your earthly lover anywhere he longs to go, but when I, your heavenly lover, ask you to pick up your cross and follow Me you stare at Me like deer in headlights? Why is that when your earthly husband will tell you that you are beautiful and gorgeous in his site you will believe him, but when I, your heavenly husband, tells you the very same thing you act as if I did not know what I was doing when I created you? Why is it that you get upset when you see godly men not pursue you for other than just a friend, but when I proceed to pursue you . . .you act as if it’s nothing? And why is it that you long for children all the time when I have given you My great commission to go out and get mine?
Now you may be thinking, Casey, are you saying that it is wrong to have these desires, to want to become a godly woman for your earthly husband and to want to be pursued and get married and have babies? Oh my word OF COURSE NOT!! That is a thing of GOD and He blesses our marriages because He created it to be that way, and God willing I cant wait for my time to come! All I am saying is, where is our heart, are we longing for our husbands more then we long for our GOD? Are we trying to shape ourselves for our husbands before thinking about shaping ourselves for our GOD? Whether married or not, we must always remember the very first marriage proposal that was given to us and it was the moment God told us to choose between life or death, so because of that we must make our relationship with GOD the one we are striving for the most.
