Ruben, Vicki, Junior, Jojo, Star, and Solimar Dominguez are a family living on a ranch in the mountains of the Dominican Republic. For five years Ruben and Vicki have been working on a vision. That vision is to love orphans. There are 200,000 orphans in the Dominican Republic. Ruben and Vicki have a heart to bring truth and healing to a town overcome by alcoholism and a lack of parental involvement. They desire to bring change to the lives of many children. They desire to bring hope, God’s love, and a stable and loving family environment to many orphaned children.

The details of the vision include a children’s home, bilingual school, and medical center. The ranch contains ten acres of forest and is rich in natural beauty, plant and wild life and is a relatively quiet place to live. The ranch resides in the mountains in the town of Lahas. Ruben and Vicki’s vision also includes having a retreat for youth and Christian groups to come, have fun, and grow closer in their relationship with the Lord. The retreat would also be used as a training grounds for future pastors and Christian leaders.

Ruben and Vicki are beginning the foundation work for their vision. Within a few weeks trenches have been dug, pipes have been laid, and walkable pathways and water drains have been put in place. Ruben and Vicki also continue to pour into the children of Lahas and the surrounding cities. Ruben and Vicki run a children’s center in the city of Cien Fuego about 45 minutes outside of Lahas. Within three weeks they have hosted English lessons at their ranch using our squad to help teach. They have also organized children outreach programs for the sake of teaching the gospel to kids at a young age.

Ruben and his family are busy seeking after God’s heart for the orphaned children of the Dominican Republic. God has planted them in the small town of Lahas that they may bear fruit and be the spark that draws more and more people to Christ. They continue to need support prayerfully and financially. Consider Ruben and Vicki’s cause. I challenge those reading that if their story speaks to your heart, don’t ignore it. More information can be found on their website at www.hope4drnow.org.
