Kenya has been a great month.  We’ve done sort of a mish mash of things, so I thought it easiest to show in pictures.

We drove through the Rift Valley to get from Nairobi to Kitale, and it was beautiful.

Just doing some stretches during our 8 hour bus ride.  If you’ll notice I am actually wearing a hooded sweatshirt… for the first time in 7 months.  When I woke up in Nairobi, it was so cold I could see my breath.  And then I put on pants and socks and shoes and a sweatshirt and it was one of the happiest moments of my life.  I mean I do enjoy sunshine, but it’s been nice to have a break from profuse sweating.

We walked around a nearby community and met and prayed with people.  These are some of the kids from the church.

It is however somewhat difficult to get a cute picture when this is what is going on in the background.  But also humorous when all the kids laugh and run away.

This is our team with some of the pastors we worked with.

We visited a boarding school/orphanage and got to hang out with the kindergarteners for a while.

This is Vivian.  She was one of my favorites, especially because she fell asleep on my lap during an assembly.  She was so awesome.

Some recess fun.

At one point in the afternoon Lacey and I went into an 8th grade classroom.  There was no teacher, so we decided we would teach something.  At first I was like I have no idea what to teach about.  But then I thought alright what do I know a lot about…  I went to nursing school, I can teach about the human body.  I then proceded to lecture on the digestive, integumentary, cardiac, and pulmonary systems.  Lacey took notes for me on the board and it was almost like a real biology class.  Then Lacey taught on the geography of the countries we had been to and it was great.  We also, upon request, sang the national anthem for them and then they sang the Kenyan national anthem in both English and Swahili for us.  It was a fun afternoon.

We visited a waterfall last weekend.  The water may be a bit on the brown side, but the landscape was beautiful.

A few of us climbed up the waterfall… and sat on rocks.

We helped build a church this week.  A lot of shoveling and fun with wheel barrows.  Additionally, we learned that masonry is trickier than it looks.

This is Joseph.  He hung out with us for a while too.

So that was Kenya.  Now on to Uganda!
