Hey everyone! Happy Easter!
WOWZERS! There are already $11,000 in my World Race account. I need a little over $5,000 until I’m fully funded to go on the Race, but that cost doesn’t support my plane tickets to and from training camp, launch, my tickets home after the race is over, and all of the gear that going on the Race requires. So I’ve still got a little ways to go, but you all have been so incredible! It is crazy that I have already raised this much with six months left until launch!
If you’ve seen any of the recent social media posts by me or my mom, you’ve probably seen us trying to sell you many items. I’ve been getting some questions about how people can support me, what’s the best way to support me, etc. so here is a post with a list of all the current and future ways to help me make this trip a reality!
1) Donate
You can always just go to sidebar of this blog and click “Support Me!” to donate online. It’s fast and safe, and tax-deductible!
2) Buy a t-shirt
I am selling t-shirts (made by Horizon Images in Abilene, TX, in case any of my Abilene friends are looking to get some made) and they look like this:
T-shirts are $20, which equals about an $11 donation to my Race and you get to look super fly. You can sign up for one on this google doc [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SAP9Rg65Mu1dDcAFmyvLztoJgddw2M-rZ7OvanFc5Zw/edit#gid=0] or you can text/message me your size. We will even ship to you!
3) Buy a candle.
Thanks to an anonymous (to me) donation, my mom currently has a bunch of candles sitting in our dining room, ready to sell to you! The candles come in varying sizes and scents, and my mom has a table set up at Alliance UMC on Sundays. Contact me or Kathy Surbaugh if you are interested in buying a candle!
4) Love offering at Alliance UMC
I will be doing the ministry moment on Sunday, May 31st at Alliance United Methodist Church, speaking about what the World Race is and why I’m going (and why you should support me!). The next Sunday, June 7th, the altar rail offering will help support my Race. So if you don’t need a t-shirt, hate candles, and don’t trust the world-wide web, then that Sunday is for you.
5) Spaghetti dinner with SPECIAL MUSICAL GUESTS
Drop any plans you have for June 27th at 6:30pm, because you want to be at Alliance UMC for a spaghetti dinner that benefits my Race but more importantly, will change your understanding of time and space.
Rumor has it elusive meta-rock group The Chocolate Bananas That Ride At Dawn will be coming out of retirement for a one-night only performance that will be the finale of a night of great music, massive quantities of pasta, and good company. All ages are welcome (and encouraged!). More information will be coming for this soon, so mark your calendars now!

Look at these guys. You don’t want to miss this genre-transcending, space-time-continuum-bending look into our souls.

So those are all the ways you can currently support me! I know that is kind of weird for me to be asking you for money all the time. Believe me, it makes me uncomfortable. But personally, I think its a great cause (although I’m a little biased) and your support means that you are walking alongside me on this journey, every step of the way. This wouldn’t be possible without all of y’all who have donated and who continue to pray for me and my squad. Thanks so much!
