Hi Family and Friends!

Long time, no see.  I've been super busy, but promise to do better with my blogging!  This blog is for my teammates since we are all blogging 50 things about ourselves.  Stay and read it though.  It made me laugh to write it… partly because I realized I might need to go to counseling for being parinoid and/or odd.

So, to get to it:

1.       I’m not much of a Facebooker and part of me worries that I don’t keep up enough with what is happening on our group page since I don’t want to miss out on developing friendships, but alas… I still don’t really Facebook.  Don’t worry though — I will bring my friendly self to training camp.
2.       I am a thinker… and a talker…
3.       I prefer small groups to large groups…
4.       And serious conversations to jokes…
5.       But I do like to laugh.
6.       I love to read and I like to write.
7.       I’m not much of a TV watcher.
8.       I love make-up, especially if it has anything to do with eyes… and I am bringing mine because I need
to feel like a girl every now and then…
9.       By the way, I am a girly-girl.
10.   I don’t like spiders, mice or roaches… and I do scream if I see them.  I also don’t like to dance.  I might scream if I have to.
11.   Music is not really my thing… I listen to it to run, but otherwise I don’t have favorite songs or artists.
12.   Along those lines, I know the lyrics to 3 – yes, 3 — songs:  Happy Birthday, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and Row, Row, Row your boat.  Awesome, I know.
13.   I process most emotion through thought.  I would definitely say I am not a feeler… even though I am probably much more tenderhearted then people realize, my head still wins the day.
14.   I am EXTREMELY non-confrontational with friends… I don’t like friction and I try my best to get along with people.
15.   My family would disagree with #14 since, like most people, I am much more free with them… probably because they can’t get rid of me… they would say that I can go from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds…
16.   Both are true… lucky for you guys, I’m bringing non-confrontational Carrie to the Race.
17.   My roommate just reminded me of a VERY important fact: I wash — as in surgically scrub — my hands before every… and I mean EVERY meal.  I am going to get over this.  Not by choice.
18.   She also reminded me that while I don’t like dogs, they like me.  Boo!
19.   I REALLY don’t like cats.  Thankfully, they don’t like me.
20.   I love to go on long walks.
21.   I am a super picky eater and I hate beans and fish… something else that is going to have to change…
22.   Speaking of food, almost everything I eat needs to be microwaved for approximately 2 minutes… Lean pockets are the best!
23.   And on that note, one of the things I am most worried about on this trip is that I am going to starve… or have to choke down, with a smile on my face, something terrible.
24.   Being the daughter of a retired paramedic, I have a plan for every disaster.  No, really… I do.  My current roommate would not go over my exit plan of escape when we first moved in with each other… although I did have one roommate who did indulge me.  We hid in a closet with each other and had strategically placed wooden shelves to knock out our would be assailants should they ever come.   Thankfully I’ve never had to use one of my rescue plans.  But people, rest easy… I will have one.
25.   I need, need, need to be buckled up in a car too.  This is also the result of being my dad’s daughter and having a mother who used the code “uga booga” to communicate to us “click it or ticket” when we were kids.  Add this to the list of things to get over on our travels.
26.   I am one of four.  We were born in every season and all two years apart.  I think my parents were planners… and I got that from them!!!  I am on time and like for things to run like a tight ship.  …Something else to get over.
27.   My family is super close…  We all still gather every Sunday for lunch at my parents’ house.
28.   I hate, hate, hate, HATE, hate flying.  My trip to Israel ruined me forever.  Turbulence is no joke and I will never forget it…
29.   I am only bringing, black, gray, white, blue and magenta colored clothes on the race so everything can be mixed and matched.  Again, girly-girl.  And it is important.
30.   I am really, really, really sad that I now own Keens, because they are UGLY.
31.   I love the Word.  It is what causes my heart to worship.
32.   I love that the Lord speaks to me most through opening my eyes as I study Scripture.
33.   I love to teach.
34.   I have had the privilege of leading a small group for women who are dealing with past hurts… and they are some of my favorite people ever.
35.   My hair has been super, super blonde for forever, but you guys will know me as a brunette since I am in the process of taking it dark for our trip.
36.   I tend to think believers fit into one of two groups: those that are gifted to plant, and those that are gifted to water, though we are all called to do both… that said, I am much more of a waterer.  I love discipleship and watching people grow up in the gospel and begin to chew on solid food.
37.   Some of the best things I’ve learned about the character of God came by way of suffering.  I used to hate this.
38.   And now I don’t.  And the journey from one to the other was an incredible one.
39.   I had an eating disorder in my late teens and very early 20s.  While I don’t practice the behaviors of it anymore, and haven’t for years, the thought processes still come back every now and then…  I hate that I still care too much about being “perfect” and really admire people who can just eat a meal without worry.
40.   I officially, as of today, have all of my World Race gear.  It was expensive and I feel like the ultimate camper, though I am not.
41.   I tend to be super private.  I don’t like vulnerability and letting people into my wounds or fear or doubt or shame.
42.   I have learned over the past several years though the value of vulnerability… and want to keep getting better at it.
43.   I love history.
44.   I haven’t ridden a bike in years, and am not sure that I still can despite that old saying….
45.   If we have to play any type of sport that involves a ball and you throw it at me, I’ll duck.  This is your warning.
46.   I am the world’s worst driver… as in I have road rage… for people who go slow.  Another way to say this is I have two speeds: fast and stopped.  Another way to say this is if I get another ticket I might lose my license.
47.   What is ironic about this is I follow every other rule in my life to the letter.
48.   I like big earrings.
49.   I eat chick-fil-a, better known as Christian chicken, at least once a week.
50.   I walk with purpose… as in it might appear that there could be a fire… even though I am just going to get a Lean Pocket.

                                                                                                                                   The End.
