Spending the weekend with a fine group of people gives you a boost. No better group to do that with than your family. Coming from around the corner, The Island (Prince Edward that is), or across the border, the 2012 Dawson family Reunion was a wonderful times of catching up with the ones you haven’t seen in years and the others you are blessed to be meeting for the first time. An eclectic bunch we are with so many stories to swap and memories to reminisce on. It is crazy seeing the ‘little ones’, not so little any more. No more kids table necessary – we’ve all graduated to the big kids table. Who thought that day would come…mature, responsible adults…scary.
Ok, maybe not THAT grown up.
I got to meet our families ‘in’ to all things potatoes, the adorable Webster farmers that made the trek down from PEI. Here’s the link to the Rick Mercer video they were in if you’re interested. They are a pretty big deal -they were on the CBC.

Not only did I get to see those that share a blood line but I was able to spend time with the wonderful extended side of the family. The side that is pretty loose about the definition of family tree. It’s like being a Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Card member*. Anyone can get into the club, get rewards and reap the benefits. The wonderful Ploegman family.
It reminds me of the way God works with His family, which is the biggest extended family of all. All are welcome to join, except there are no point’s levels with this guy. He gives out the maximum amount of points. All you have to do is ask, no paperwork required. I am looking forward to meeting the newest known addition to ‘my family’, the brothers and sisters in Christ on the World Race team. While we are able to communicate through the interweb in the meantime, I look forward to the face to face interaction as I am not the greatest at getting to know people via computer/Facebook. Ask my friends of 26 years…it's not a strong suit of mine.
Count your blessings my friends. Whether it takes one hand or a 19 kids and counting deal, these are the fokes God wants by your side.
“Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.” – Psalm 127:5

PS-I had a picture from my family included in here, but due to my inability to know blog technology, I cannot get it to work. I will add it to my to do list, aka call my brother.
