Here in Tanzania, we’ve had the opportunity to really ‘live’
here. We’ve been staying at a church sharing the same property with the pastor
and his family live. We were the first World Racers/Americans/visitors that
they have ever had, and they welcomed us as their own. At one point Pastor Peter pointed at
one of us and said ‘You. I love you the same as that guy’ and then pointed to
his son. His catch phrase since day 1 was ‘be free’. This is your home. Be
free.
Every night our team and the family would meet for family
prayers. We would sing songs in Swahili and English and then share prayer
requests. After prayers was time for ‘raughing and joking’, which Peter would
say in his Mufasa sounding voice.

We love Peter and his wife Rehama. They also have 4 children
that we were able to share life with. I created email and facebook accounts for
the older son so that we can all stay in touch. During laughing and joking
time, we introduced them to the push up game and taught them how to floss.

Of course every ministry situation is unique in it’s factors
of what make it a good/bad month. This has been my favorite month so far. I
think it is because they succeeded in fostering a home for us and I was able to
be free.
