Well hello, my name is Carolyn, I am 29 years old, I live in Lancaster county, Pa. and I’ve been working as a nanny for the past 3 years. That is who I am, where I live, and what I do… But that is not what I am passionate about…
See, ever since I was around 11 years old, I’ve had the call on my heart for mission. I have the desire to see the world and to spread the Truth of the Gospel and to share the love of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I want to be the hands and feet of God. I need to do more than the normal quota. And above all, I want to serve my Father in heaven and follow His will for my life. And so, I GO!!!
I’ve been accepted to the craziest thing I think I will ever do… The World Race. And it scares me and excites me that God has chosen me to go. I have been praying about the World Race ever since I first heard of it in 2009. This is the time that God has chosen for me to go and so here I am… Trying to prepare for something that none of us can prepare for. But this is good… It is hard, but good. And all the doubt and feelings of inadequacy that have been plaguing me since I started the application process only pushes me further because I know that this is God’s will for my life. I know I’m meant to go!! And so, I GO!!!
But since this is about me, maybe I should tell you about myself…
Jesus is the lover of my soul. He is the only one who can take this mess that I am and turn my life into a message. Without Him, I am nothing. I fail, I fall, I lose my way. I am not worthy of His grace or love. BUT He loves me… unconditionally. He walks with me and holds my hand and gives me grace to stand. He is my light, my heart, and He is everything to me!!! And so, I GO!!!
My parents are amazing! They left the Amish church when I was just a young whipper-snapper to follow the call that God put on their lives. They were shunned because they heard the call to become missionaries. Through all of that, our family was tested and tried. We didn’t have a lot of money or support back home… But they kept the faith. They knew they were doing what God willed them to do. I have learned more about trusting God and having faith that He’ll see you through by the example they led. And it blesses me to also see that they are still as much in love with each other as the day they got married Lol.
I love traveling! I’ve only really been out of the country for mission trips but each one was amazing, even with each individual challenge. I’ve been to Romania, Russia, Mexico And Africa. I love learning about different cultures and learning new languages.
I am quite an odd ball, but I love to laugh and have fun. I tend to be the adventurous one out of my family and I love taking on challenges. I am a bit of a Tom boy and love anything to do with outdoors. I’m not afraid of trying new things, food especially lol. My hero is Mother Teresa.
So, I’ve been accepted to the World Race, my name is Carolyn, and I am blown away by the goodness of God! It’s all been set in motion and He’s asking to to give Him a year of my life in service to Him…
