Doesn’t matter where
I’m from

Not the church I
attend or Bible studies I lead

Not the place that I
live or the family I love

Not the songs that I
sing or the books that I quote

Not the hair that I
primp or the clothes that I wear

Not the memories I have
or the stories I tell

None of this is Who I
Am

My IDENTITY does not
live in the friends I make or the paths I create

I Am who the Great I
AM says that I Am.

My IDENTITY does not
falter when haunted by mistakes in wet paint that I’ve touched

Not in broken dreams
or dreams I feel I may never reach

Not in the car I
drive or repair a thousand times

Not in the body I
want versus the body I got or the lines that define who is the most hot

None of this is Who I
Am

I Am who the Great I
Am says that I Am.

I am strong
Given a spirit of
power of love and self-discipline I tell fear you will not restrain me, choke
me, or kill me

I am beautiful
My King is enthralled
by my beauty, I will not be discouraged by the latest magazine, but will enjoy
being FREE

I am chosen
I was known in my
mother’s womb to be brought to this place, to walk through the fire and to not
be burned, to be crushed but not destroyed, perplexed but NEVER abandoned

I Am who the Great I
Am says that I Am.
